Water Treatment
A major oil company research and development center contracted with Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) to evaluate their existing wastewater treatment system, which was inefficient and causing the client to be out of compliance with local discharge regulations.
To assist in the design and modification decision making process, AutoCAD drawings were developed by ESI for the client=s wastewater and sewer collection system. Influent and effluent characteristics of the waste stream were monitored to evaluate the performance of their treatment system.
Suspected problem areas in the sewer collection system were assessed utilizing die tracing, televising and smoke testing so that a determination of system deficiencies and recommendations for improvement could be made. Additional attention was given to limiting environmental liabilities.
Based on the information gathered through monitoring, testing, and system observations specifications were developed to upgrade and improve the wastewater treatment and sewer collection systems.
Approximately $7.2 million in engineering and equipment upgrades were ultimately made on the wastewater treatment system while $500,000 in improvements were made on the sewer system. The client=s systems are now operating efficiently and have continued to operate in compliance with wastewater discharge regulations.
